IO3. eLearning platform and MOOC
IO3. eLearning platform and MOOC
P1-UPIT will be leading this output together with CARDET, while all partners will be involved in the development of the content and activities. Throughout the entire duration of this output, the leading partner will be responsible for allocating and assigning roles to all partners and monitoring all sub-tasks, ensuring their successful completion and smooth communication between the partners. Before completion, P1 will also ensure that all sub-tasks deliverables have been peer reviewed by all associated partners.
IO3 includes the following three steps:
1. Design and development of the MOOC for HE staff (academics, lectures, instructors).
2. Testing and validation of the course with participants.
3. How to adopt eLearning into university courses.
4. Translation of the course (selected content the MOOC and training).
UPIT will produce the guidelines, design, and develop the online course. All partners will contribute to this output by developing the MOOC content and spreading the course to reach potential enrolments. As part of the requirements for the MOOC completion, participants will be requested to design and test a part of one online teaching course and evaluate it into their university courses.
INNOVATION
This is one of the first MOOCs that will have a clear focus on supporting participants to develop parts of an online course, while guiding them closely. Specifically, all MOOCs’ participants will be assigned to a coach and will collaborate closely with them to support them and provide feedback in the MOOCs activities. A forum will also be embedded in the MOOC and will be monitored by the MOOCs’ coaches. These coaches can also be part of the consortium of the OnlineHE project. The MOOC will be designed as a gamified environment, with scenarios and authentic learning activities. Social media features that are now an essential part of online learning (such as linked to relevant social media pages), will also be integrated. The format of the gamified digital learning resources will support the learning of HE staff. The focus of the MOOC will address the significant issues and topics of integrating eLearning in HE and is fully aligned with EU policies and HE needs. It will include hands-on online activities to empower academics to integrate eLearning in their teaching.
IMPACT
Using the MOOC, HE will be able to improve and modernize their curricula and integrate innovative technology tools for the design and delivery of courses. Successful use of the MOOC will allow HE providers and their staff to acquire the skills and competences, thus multiplying the impact of the project. This will ensure that the toolkit will have a continued impact into the future.
TRANSFERABILITY
The MOOC will initially be developed, reviewed, and piloted in educational environments in the partner countries. Demonstrating the adaptability of the MOOC curricula in this manner emphasizes the potential for further exploitation within the partner countries but also in countries beyond the initial partnership. It must be stressed that the issues that the MOOC address are key priorities for the EU (shift to online teaching and learning, WFH, digitalization, Open Education Agenda, Digital Education Action Plan) and definitely will remain at the forefront of EU policy for the foreseeable future.
Compliance: Data privacy and data protection processes will be in place, and a data protection officer will be assigned to ensure GDPR compliance. The MOOC will also be compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1/ 2018), ISO/IEC 40500. UPIT and CARDET will evaluate and adopt all relevant changes to the MOOC based on feedback received.
